Bio: We’ve missed Baz. Mostly because numbers have dictated that without him you can’t guarantee at least one player in each group knowing the rules, or being able to count their shots properly. But he’s also been missed but also due to the fact that he is a true golf competitor and the tour’s lowest handicapper, giving us a thin veneer of golfing respectability.

With a swing as ugly as it is unerring, he comes back to MADJIC after an unexpected absence during Portugal 2017 and he will be looking to atone for his last outing in Dorset where quite frankly he was average. Still driving his battered MX5. Still changing clubs like others change pants. Still irritatingly calling good shots for others that invariably end up in the shit and still playing mind games. Like a golfing James Milner, he does the simple things right. All the time.

Don’t get me wrong, he can be spectacular but he’s mostly about grinding down opponents by playing the course as well as the man. Red hot favourite but it’s on courses where he’s had scant success previously
